How the sum works
One unit on your bill is one kilowatt-hour. Divide the watts by 1,000, multiply by the hours, then multiply by your rate per unit.
For example, a 2000 watt heater uses 2 units an hour. At ₹8 per unit, 4 hours costs ₹64.
Why your real bill may be lower or higher
- A thermostat switches the heater off once the room is warm, so the real hours can be fewer.
- Many boards charge a higher rate after a set number of units, so extra use can cost more per unit.
- Fixed charges and taxes on your bill are not included here.
